[Biak, Jan. 14]
All the packages sending back were shipped out by Ninong-san. Thank you very much for her help.
Shibata, Sakurai, Sugidachi, Ninong and Dian will leave Biak by the flight tomorrow morning.
SOWER Biak 2013 is closing.  Thank you very much for the helps by the staff of LAPAN, and cooperations by the SOWER members.

[Biak, Jan. 13]
It started raining in the early morning. It was rainy in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon.
M. Hayashi, K. Shimizu and A. Kawaguchi left Biak to Japan by a morning flight.
(CPC/RS-06G&ECC/iMET)  CPC/RS-06G and ECC/iMET were launched at around 13 LT.  CPC was quite noisy after passing through stratus at about 5 km. The noise was detected even at the altitude of stratosphere. This problem should be fixed in the future.  ECC with iMET was prepared by LAPAN. The problem in the last campaign has been fixed, and the performance was satisfactory.
(Lidar) Lidar was stopped at 15 LT. Lidar has been operated for 8 days without stop. Lidar has been shut down.
Packing to send instruments back to Japan has been done at 19 LT.

[Biak, Jan. 12]
Very good weather in the afternoon.  There were almost no clouds.
(FLASH/ECC) FLASH and ECC launched at 18:50 LT, showing good results.
(Lidar) Lidar is working without problem.

[Biak, Jan. 11]
It started heavy raining in the afternoon.
(OPC and OPC with heated inlet tube at 250 deg. in Celsius) Dual OPC were launched at 10:51.  Data are good. Balloon bursted just at CPT.
(Lidar) good condition.

[Biak, Jan. 10]
(OPC and OPC with heated inlet tube at 300 deg. in Celsius) Dual OPC were launched at 11:00. The data taken are satisfactory. The fixed point between rotating axes of gear pump and motor of the heated OPC had started to slip at around 21 km in altitude. This problem will be fixed in the next flight.
(CFH/RS-06G//FineDEW) CFH/RS-06G and FineDEW were launched at 14:23. CFH worked very well.  Fine DEW still have problem in observing altitudes higher than upper troposphere.
(Lidar) good.

[Biak, Jan. 9]
(CFH/ECC/RS-06G) CFH and ECC with RS-06G were launced at 9:51 LT.  Both sensors showed good performance.
(OPC and OPC with heated inlet tube at 200 deg. in Celsius) Dual OPC were launched at 13:30. There was a trouble that heater had not been turned on soon after launching. However, the switch was turned on automatically at about 15 km in altitude. This was caused by voltage limiter of the heater, and will be fixed in the next flight.
(HYVIS/RS-06G//CPC) HYVIS/RS-06G and CPC/RS-06G was launched at 18:40 LT.  Both sensors worked very well.
(Lidar) There’s no problem.

[Biak, Jan. 8]
H. Honda left Biak by a morning flight to go back to Japan.
(RS-11G x3) Three sets of RS-11G were launched at 9:25 LT. Improved cap for the humidity sensor was tested with one RS-11G, and was confirmed showing better performance than older cap.
(HYVIS/RS-06G//CPC) HYVIS was launched at 14:39 LT with a CPC (Cloud Particle counter, still in developing phase ). There was a mistake not to switch on the motor in the HYVIS. The impacting film wheel stopped, but the cloud particles are still clearly visible on the stopped film. CPC worked very well. It shows vertical profile of the number density of cloud particles. The profile agrees well the profile taken by the lidar.
(Lidar) Lidar is running very well.

[Biak, Jan. 7]
(HYVIS/RS-06G) The improved HYVIS (HYdrometeor Video Sonde) was launched at 14:56 LT.  Although better results than last year were taken, there were problem in receiving GPS at the altitude higher than 7 km.  The reason of the problem is not clear yet.
(CFH/ECC/RS-06G/&/LowcostDEW) CFH was launched at 18:07 LT. CFH stopped at the altitude of 7 km. The reason has not been specified yet. The assent data by ECC was successfully taken, but descent data was not. LDEW was not stable at all the altitude.
The CPT temperature was -94 degrees in Celsius.
(Lidar)  Lidar is working well.

[Biak, Jan. 6]
Honda and K. Shimizu (Hokkaido Univ./Meisei Electric Corp.) arrived at Biak in the early morning on 6th. Full Japanese members of this season are now at Biak.
(Balloon, RS-06G) Receiver and tracking were tested by using a radiosonde flight launched at around 14:30 LT.
(Lidar) Lidar is kept working well.

[Biak, Jan. 5]
All the members arrived at Biak in the early morning by midnight flight from Jakarta to Biak.  After a short rest, they began the preparations of the observations.
(Lidar) Lidar was started to be operated at around 15:30 LT (UT+9), and will be continuously operated through the campaign period.

[Jakarta, Jan. 4]
Shibata moved to the airport, Jakarta in the late afternoon. He joined the group who just arrived from Japan at the airport.  The members are M. Hayashi, A. Kawaguchi (Fukuoka Univ.), T. Sugidachi (Hokkaido Univ.) and M. Sakurai (Nagoya Univ.).

[Badung, Jan. 4]
Hasebe, Honda and Shibata visited LAPAN, Bandung, and have a meeting with Pak Thomas Djyamaluddin (Deputy Chairman) and Pak Afif Budiyono about the SOWER observations and new plan.

[Narita, Jan. 3]
F. Hasebe (Hokkaido Univ.),  H. Honda (JAXA) and T. Shibata (Nagoya Univ.) are leaving Narita to Jakarta.
